Frequently asked questions

The sunrise marker seems off — what can I do?: Calibrate the compass by waving your iPhone in a figure-8 motion. Accuracy also improves away from large metal objects, magnets (including some phone cases), and electronics.
Why does the app need camera access?: Only to show the live view behind the sun markers. Nothing is recorded or saved.
Why does the app need my location?: Sunrise direction depends on where you are. Your location is processed on-device; see the privacy policy for details.
"Best sunrise spots" shows an error.: That feature needs an internet connection to read elevation data. Check your connection and tap "Try again".
There's no sunrise/sunset time shown.: At extreme latitudes the sun can stay up (or down) for weeks — the app tells you when you're in polar day or polar night.
