Sunrise Compass — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026

Sunrise Compass is designed so that your personal data stays on your device. We do not run servers, we do not require an account, and we do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information.

Camera

The camera feed is used solely to display the live view behind the augmented-reality sun markers. Camera frames are rendered on screen and immediately discarded. No photos or videos are captured, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

Location

Your location is used on your device to calculate the sun's position, sunrise and sunset times, and your compass heading. It is never linked to your identity and never used for advertising or tracking.

When you use the "Best sunrise spots" feature, the app sends nearby map coordinates to a public elevation service (open-meteo.com, with opentopodata.org as a fallback) to read terrain heights from a digital elevation model. These requests contain coordinates only — no identifiers, no account information, and nothing that links them to you. Apple's Maps framework is used to display maps and provide directions, subject to Apple's privacy policy.

Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers of any kind.

Children

Sunrise Compass does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
